Selena Jong

Death Doula, Home Funeral Guide & Death Educator

I am a Death Doula, home funeral guide, death educator and community builder. I guide individuals and their loved ones through the sacred transition of dying. I offer emotional, spiritual, and logistical support, creating space for peace, dignity, and connection. My mission is to help families reclaim death care, honoring ancestral rituals and providing guidance in sacred tending.

I empower people to take ownership of their life journey, to move through what can be a beautiful process.

Our society doesn’t place enough value or significance on the dying. Death should be a sacred act. It should be honored and approached with intention. It should be celebrated the way birth is because death, in a way, is similar to birth.

Together, we can plan ahead (to the best of our ability) so when the time comes, there is less stress, less fear, greater acceptance, and more familiarity.

I tailor my support to each person’s needs - these are a few of the ways.

    Death Doula

I am certified and trained to assist in the non-medical aspects of the dying and their care circles. I create a holistic container for all the different aspects of the transitional experience.

In the sacred space, I offer compassionate companionship in the dying process. I provide emotional and spiritual support, legacy creation, living funerals and ritual guidance. Embracing the belief that death is a transition, a gateway and not an end, I can help facilitate meaningful observances, fostering an environment of support, love and connection. With each unique passage, not only can we co-create personalized rituals, I can provide assistance with practical arrangements, have hard conversations or simply be a comforting presence.

    Home Funeral Guide

Everyone should have access to an equitable funeral. If you wish to have an intimate home funeral for someone who has died at home, or want support bringing home your loved one who has died in the hospital, I can assist in this time honored tradition. After washing, dressing, and vigil-keeping with the body, together we can sit in ceremony, ritual or quiet time as a way to tend to the final passage of death.

  • Death Educator & Speaker

Part of my mission as a Death Doula is to educate the community on the importance of speaking openly about death and dying. It is also my goal to bring community together around the topic of death. I have spoken to college classes, community programs and on podcasts. Speaking about the topic of death does not mean you will die tomorrow, but being open to the topic will open the door to help foster deeper and more meaningful life reflection.
