Medical Aid in Dying
Medical Aid in Dying (MAID) is a safe and legal end-of-life option that allows certain terminally ill Californians to receive doctor-prescribed medication to hasten their death.
Doctor Moore determines patient eligibility for MAID, provides referrals to consulting physicians, prescribes the aid-in-dying medication, and is often present when the patient takes the medication. Dr. Moore has extensive experience with MAID and a deep desire to help patients fulfill their end-of-life wishes.
It’s important to understand that choosing MAID is entirely voluntary. It is not about ending life prematurely but about giving control and choice to those experiencing a terminal illness. It involves stringent safeguards and is only accessible to patients who meet specific medical and legal criteria, including a prognosis of six months or less to live and the mental capacity to make informed medical decisions. MAID is a legal right to choose your end-of-life path granted by California’s End of Life Option Act (EOLOA).
