Penny Waugh is the founder of The Death Network, a certified Death Doula, and a passionate advocate for greener end-of-life options. She believes that the way we care for our bodies after death can be a meaningful reflection of the values, lifestyle, and choices that guided our lives.

Through community education, workshops, and events throughout San Diego, Penny helps people explore death with greater curiosity, confidence, and intention. Her work is rooted in authenticity, compassion, and the belief that by restoring time-honored practices such as home funerals and at-home death care, we can create more meaningful experiences around death and dying. Her mission is simple: help individuals, families, and communities Do Death Different.

Selena Jong is a Death Doula/End-of-Life Guide based in Encinitas, California. Passionate about bringing earth based death rituals back to the people, Selena educates and advocates for eco friendly ways to tend our bodies after we die. 

With over two decades of lived experience navigating loss, Selena accompanies the dying and their families through one of life’s most sacred thresholds. Her work honors ancestral wisdom traditions and community-centered ritual to create death experiences that are intentional, dignified, and deeply human.

Selena incorporates ceremonial frameworks for diverse spiritual traditions, and advocates for a more equitable, decolonized approach to end-of-life care. Her mission is simple and profound: death, done differently.

Claudia Faerber is a death doula and grief coach whose clients are individuals in the process of dying, and their loved ones, learning to live with grief. She plays many roles during the dying

experience--sometimes helping with end-of-life plans, sometimes holding a loved one’s hand, and sometimes acting as a project manager on the day of someone passing.

Most recently her work has taken her to the bedside of terminally ill patients choosing Medical Aid in Dying. Her aim is to be a light as families navigate the journey of death and dying, and to bear witness to life in all its peaks and valleys.

She lives in the East County of San Diego.

After nearly a decade in the funeral industry, Savannah saw how overwhelming paperwork and payments can be for grieving families. David is committed to serving our families well, and with a deep understanding of compassion, with a viewpoint of respect and honor towards the loved ones who have passed. He has been a part of the Southern California business community culture since 1994. With an entrepreneurial spirit, an operations design and management expertise, and a customer service commitment to satisfaction, David was instrumental in founding and developing California’s first Alkaline Hydrolysis facility for human final disposition and specializes in eco-focused end of services.

David is a technical school graduate of the U.S. Navy, and a medical equipment industry technician holding many certifications on multiple platforms. David holds licenses as Crematory Manager and Pre-need Insurance Agent. He currently oversees all operations at both, White Rose Aqua Cremation in San Diego County and White Rose at San Clemente in Orange County

Chris Anderson is a longtime maritime captain and founder of Water & Ash Burials. His passion for helping families honor their loved ones began after facilitating many burials at sea and witnessing firsthand the healing that can come from a meaningful farewell on the water. Through those experiences, Chris realized that families often need more than a service; they need a compassionate guide, a peaceful space to reflect, and the freedom to celebrate a life in a way that feels true to the person they loved. That vision led him to create Water & Ash Burials. For Chris, every service is about helping families find comfort, connection, and peace during one of life’s most difficult moments. He takes pride in creating experiences that families will remember for years to come. Not because of the ceremony itself, but because of the love, stories, and memories shared along the way. Every farewell is as unique as the life being honored. Chris’s goal is to create a meaningful experience that reflects the individual’s legacy while providing families with a lasting sense of peace, connection, and remembrance. The ocean becomes more than a final resting place, it becomes a place to celebrate a life well lived.
