Lorien Lehmer

Death Doula & Grief Counselor

The Death Network Lorien Lehmer

I am a death doula, grief counselor, and grief retreat facilitator devoted to walking alongside individuals and families as they navigate loss, transition, and the tender terrain of grief. My work is rooted in the belief that death and grief are sacred, human experiences that deserve presence and compassionate support.

As a death doula, I offer steady guidance before, during, and after death supporting emotional, spiritual, and practical needs while honoring each person’s values, beliefs, and rhythms. I create space for honest conversations, legacy reflection, ritual, and meaning-making, helping loved ones feel less alone during profoundly vulnerable moments.

With an MA in Ecopsychology/Art Therapy and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, my grief counseling practice centers on trauma-informed, mind/body, and heart-centered approaches. Grief is not something to “fix,” but something to be witnessed, felt, and integrated over time. I support clients through anticipatory grief, sudden loss, complicated grief, and life transitions, honoring the many ways grief shows up in the body, mind, and spirit.

Through grief retreats, I offer immersive, restorative experiences in nature that invite rest, reflection, and healing. These retreats weave together ritual, gentle movement, mindfulness, creative expression, and guided grief practices, allowing participants to reconnect with themselves and others in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment.

My intention is to normalize grief, soften fear around death, and cultivate spaces where people feel held, seen, and supported. It is an honor to companion others as they move through loss and rediscover meaning, resilience, and connection in their own time and way.

  • End of Life paperwork The Death Network

    Grief Counseling

Finding the right support for death, loss, and grief is essential. With an MA in Ecopsychology and Art Therapy and training as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I center my grief counseling practice on trauma-informed, mind/body, and heart-centered approaches. Grief isn’t something to “fix”, it’s something to be witnessed, felt, and integrated over time. I support clients through anticipatory grief, sudden loss, complicated grief, and life transitions, honoring the many ways grief shows up in the body, mind, and spirit.

  • Art Therapy for Grief The Death Network

    Art Therapy

I believe image and creativity can unlock insight and reach parts of the brain that words alone often cannot. I create space for artistic expression, honest conversation, legacy reflection, ritual, and meaning-making, helping loved ones feel seen and supported during profoundly vulnerable moments.

  • Somatic Movement Therapy The Death Network

    Somatic Experience Practicioner

As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I use somatic movement to support trauma healing, helping regulate the nervous system while building resilience for life’s challenges and joys.

Somatic therapy complements traditional talk therapy, guiding grief to be integrated into the rhythm of daily life rather than carried as a burden.

  • Craniosacral Therapy with The Death Network

    Craniosacral Therapy

I offer Craniosacral Therapy (CST), a gentle, hands-on approach that uses light touch to release restrictions in the craniosacral system - the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid around the brain and spinal cord.

CST promotes deep relaxation, supports nervous system function, and can relieve pain from conditions like migraines, neck tension, and TMJ.

  • Yoga for Grief The Death Network

    Yoga for Grief

Grief-focused yoga uses gentle movement to help release emotions stored in the body. It provides a safe space for emotional release, easing anger, sadness, and tension. It supports stress management, helps you feel grounded and secure in your body, and incorporates rituals that guide you through processing loss with care and presence.

  • Meditation & Mindfulness

Grief-focused meditation uses mindful practices to help release and process emotions stored in the body. By emphasizing mind/body awareness and presence, it helps individuals notice how grief shows up physically and emotionally. Meditation provides a safe space for emotional release, eases tension and stress, and supports reflection and grounding, guiding those who are grieving toward greater clarity, acceptance, and resilience.

  • Grief Retreats with The Death Network

    Grief Retreats

I facilitate grief retreats designed to support self-care and healing while grieving. These retreats offer days of relaxation and focused nurturing, helping balance the body, mind, and emotions through nourishing food, intentional activities, and compassionate support. By creating a dedicated space for reflection, connection, and restoration, grief retreats provide the time and care needed to process loss, restore energy, and move forward with greater resilience and clarity.
