The Death Network
Tim Ringgold, MT-BC
Music Therapist
I’m a board-certified music therapist and have facilitated over thirty Grief Retreats since 2007. My own grief journey includes the loss of my five best friends in ’95, my dad in ’97, and one of my daughters in ’10—so I know, firsthand, what it’s like to walk the long road through grief and toward some kind of recovery.
I’m also the author of Sonic Recovery: Harness the Power of Music to Stay Sober. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of providing music therapy to thousands of teens and adults in residential treatment. I’m a sought-after international speaker and have shared the stage with some of the top minds exploring the connection between music, the brain, and personal growth, including Tony Robbins.
In 2012, I became the first person to give a TEDx talk on music therapy, and I previously served as a Regional President of the American Music Therapy Association. More recently, in 2024, I completed my Hospice and Palliative Care Music Therapy certification and now also serve as an instructor in that work.
Creative Grief Integration
-

Board Certified Music Therapist
Music holds a unique place not just in our minds, hearts, and spirits, but in our brains and nervous systems. We PLAY music, whether live or recorded, and introducing music and play into the grief journey provides a welcome respite for any griever.
Music is the most complex stimulus in nature, and it works effortlessly to help a person stay present, open up without words, turn off stress on demand, and connect with something safe. Empowering my clients to make the music and realize they are musical is one of the most inspiring things to witness.

Retreat Facilitator
There's nothing like giving a grieving body, mind, and spirit the physical time and space to decompress, unwind, and allow the buried energy of grieve to gently rise to the surface and express itself.
The nervous system needs time and safety to release the stress and strain of grief, and being around a small group of others who 'get it' in a serene setting for 3 days, totally surrounded by nature and music creates a unique opportunity for exponential healing to occur.

Grief Coach
I've been in the personal and professional coaching space as a coach and a client for over 20 years. Of all the different challenges I’ve helped clients navigate, witnessing them move through their grief and begin to heal - while others around them remain stuck in pain for months or even years - has been some of the most deeply rewarding work I’ve ever had the privilege to do.
I combine positive psychology and music therapy with the principles of longevity to help grievers create the next chapter of their life, envisioning a life beyond their grief.

TEDx Speaker
I gave the first-ever TEDx talk on music therapy in 2012, and since then, I’ve taken the stage internationally - both online and in person - teaching thousands about the power of music as an evidence-based therapeutic tool.
I speak to professional associations as well as individuals navigating medical diagnoses, showing them how to use music to reduce stress, regulate their nervous system, and even access higher levels of performance.
